So Matt and Mike had a heated discussion on the recent “ground zero” mosque debacle. Not only is this a nonissue blown completely out of proportion, but the Obama administration is failing to stand up for itself or just flat out act like a man. It is pathetic.
NBL is so frustrated with the corporate media and its goons ruining everything that they have to vent a bit in this pod.
To lighten things up Matt reviews the 138 page, yes 138 PAGE decision from Judge Walker on proposition 8 this summer. He is the only person on earth that actually read it, and shares the juicy parts with us all.
The defense in this case is almost laughable. Relying solely on hearsay and Internet rumor, they contend that homosexual marriage will deinstitutionalize marriage all together. (Yes apparently that is a word) The trouble is that they can’t prove it. Their witnesses are a joke and their “facts” turn out to be piles of donkey dung. Don’t believe us? Read it for yourself. It is a joke.
The concern is that this WILL be appealed to the Supreme Court, and even with the thin backing it has, it is conceivable that this could be a problem. What kind of society do we live in that hearsay, stereotype and Internet facts can potentially rule the day? It may be the 1960s for gays. Let’s hope society takes a step in the right direction for freedom.

After a small hiatus since our winery tour in early August, NBL is back on the horse now that school has ramped up. We have several podcasts in the books that are in post production and several planned for this month. It is going to be a busy and exciting one!
For the sake of listenability we have decided to chop down a few podcasts into bite sized ones so you can listen to the topics you are interested in when you are ready. Local pods will be separate from the twisted opinions of our greater minds.
So here is what is coming up this month:
RECORDED SHOWS SOON TO BE POSTED:
- Proposition 8 and the Ground Zero Mosque although not a super recent issue, we felt that time could not pass without us putting in our lefty cents on these two issues. The Prop8 discussion is a lesson in hilarity as we break down the judge’s 138 page decision on the case, which is surely headed to the big dance. Mike and Matt also weed through the confusion on the “Ground Zero Mosque” or is it the “Obama Mosque?” Either way apparently the definition of mosque is being redefined to that of a basketball court. All courts must now officially be called a mosque. You probably have one in your neighborhood. Be very afraid!
- NBL Local News – Not sure what to call this yet but we run through the local New Braunfels goody bag including the recent Crosswalk Cafe eviction, the Borcher Ranch development announcement and the HEB opening.
- The Music Throwdown – We throw out our first music donkey kong show, which is yet to be named. We need a snazzy segment title here. We introduce each other to three very different pieces of music, talk music philosophy and add a few “guilty pleasures” to wrap it up.
PLANNED SHOWS WITH CONFIRMED BOOKING:
- Matt Interviews a Local Superstar…Well, as super as you can get for New Braunfels. A well known person in town sits in with Matt to go over a recent “field” trip and to talk a lot of baseball, social media, and music. Fair warning, this is most definitely a sports geek and technology episode.
- Another Local Interview! Although we have been turned down for two interviews in the area, we have several who are brave enough to come on board. This one is an extreme secret, but will make you excited. Another well known local will join us for a discussion on music and his background. We will reveal more as this one gets closer to being completed.
